They announce her as the

She says other great things.
Then she thanks the volunteers and the staff.
"How lucky I am to have worked with every single one of you"
Then thanks the family, but Mom was the star of the show.
Normal Life Over for Protesting Mother
Sat Aug 13, 2005 at 06:51:29 PM PDT
There's an article on Yahoo! News about Cindy Sheehan.
Article Link
Before her son was killed in
Iraq, before she began a peace vigil outside
President Bush's Texas ranch, before she became an icon of the anti-war movement and the face of grieving mothers, there was a time when Cindy Sheehan's life was, by all appearances, incredibly normal.
The article presents a nice bio of Cindy Sheehan, though we do get someone making the typical winger comment about "Supporting our troops". making the implication that protesting to bring the troops home somehow doesn't support the troops.
The reason I bring it here though is that it seems to be getting freeped by the right wing, and it's average rating is only 2.5 stars.
So click on over and rate this article, giving it the 5 star rating it deserves.
Venture capitalists want SBA grants

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch business section prints another puff piece allowing business interests to get their say out in the public without any criticism whatsoever.
Article
Biotech companies here and nationally are rallying against an interpretation of federal rules that squelches their ability to receive critical seed money for vaccines and other products that they say could save lives.
Nice appeal to the "they're just trying to help society part. What they're really wantiong to do is take government money meant for small businesses and diverting it to large ones, instead.

St. Louis Post Dispatch goes after Dean
Sun Jun 12, 2005 at 01:37:50 PM PDT
The Dean bashing continues:

IF YOU'RE A yellow dog Democrat and don't see anything wrong with Howard Dean's latest wisecracks about Republicans, try turning around his comments.
Last week, the Democratic Party Chairman and chief loudmouth told liberal groups that a lot of Republicans "never made an honest living in their lives." Can you imagine the outrage of the People for the American Way if the Republican Party chairman said a lot of Democrats are welfare queens hooked on food stamps?
Dr. Dean also said that the GOP was "pretty much a white, Christian party." Sort of like a GOP chairman saying that Democrats are a party of blacks, atheists and Jews.
...
Yargh. Where to even begin. My response after the fold.
My letter to Newsweek
Tue May 17, 2005 at 10:35:40 AM PDT
After listening to NPR this morning and its tepid defence of Newsweek, I decided I needed to write them a letter in support.
Following in the Extended Entry is the text of the letter. I think we need to muster every bit of moral support we can to counter the Mighty Wurlitzer that's hitting them right now.
